Virginal Large Jar (1200-0883)
by Currey
Mimicking the shapes of the terracotta jars that have historically been used for preserving olives in oil, the Virginal Large Jar is made of terracotta with an antique-white, hand-applied glazing that is so thick and rich it has a crackle surface. The fact that this piece is hand-thrown means the shapes will vary slightly, as will the finish, which will make each of these vessels unique. Someone who spies them in an interior could be convinced they are timeless antiquities.
